What has happened in our world?

  30-Sept-2000
I haven´t yet taken any measures to keep it interesting, but stay tuned.
For your viewing pleasure I added one more demo to Files/Demos. Enjoy it.
Plus, if you are a regular user in #AmigaQuake, check out the #AmigaQuake Area in our Forum, since there is a new LANparty on the way.

Gee, what a long time without any news. I will take measures to keep the site more interesting very soon.
Just in case you haven´t yet noticed, our clan has a new member since 2 days, F_Storm (aka A_Storm or B1OCH1LL ;-) ). Very nice to have you with us!

Some updates to the site. I removed the Flash animation, because some bug-diseased Amiga browser called IBrowse2 crashes upon loading a flash movie. It crashes although it does NOT support them...hmm.
I put almost all maps that are on Uplink now on our Map-Page. Two maps are missing, DCF4 and 2MachSE. If anyone can provide me with the links I would be very happy. I will also repost the complete maplist of Uplink here. Remember, DCF4 and 2MachSE do not work yet.

The Uplink game server is back! Well, sort of. Yesterday Reptile temporarily installed ProQuake (NetQuake with lotsa bugfixes) on game2.uplink.de. It is fully compatible with all NetQuake clients, but offers advanced features for ProQuake clients. You can find ProQuake here.
Well, another thing. Both the QW Server and the NetQuake server have the same maps, which isn´t really necessary. So just tell me what maps you would like to see on what server (forum, I suggest).

The Channel #amigaquake moved to another IRC-Network! We moved to....QuakeNet! Check out this URL for the
QuakeNet-Servers. See you there :-)!

Long time no see, huh? Well, I´m back ;-)
game.uplink.de will be down for a noticeable amount of time (more than a month probably). As far as I have been informed because the server is too expensive :-) We were obviously producing a heavy amount of traffic..
What alternatives are there? NetQuake - none. QuakeWorld - well, it is not difficult to find a QW-Server in your neighborhood. But you might try 137.226.116.82 (Ye Olde Jenny is back on QW, DOH) or 137.226.116.79.
I spiced up the main menu with a little Flash-Scroller. It was done by The Grande Cheese Galactik, our very own boss. Excellent work there, Gal ;-) Expect some more in the near future.
Haha, now I also have LOTS of time to add the download-links for the maps I added to NQ-Uplink. Oh well...

Oops, I was too lazy, sorry! On 31-March we had a clanmatch with the Commanders of Madness. Maps played were BAM4 and Bases. Most of the time it was a 6 vs. 6, CoM had Pat from the Armygeddon Clan playing as ringer. To the end of the second round Liluh had to leave, and Pat left too so it was a 5 vs 5 then. The first round on BAM4 was rather close, we managed to score 289 frags and CoM got 218. Bases was a bit easier for us, we reached 489 frags and CoM 293. Makes a total of 778 (DLc) to 571 (CoM) frags. Nice result. Unfortunately I did not play, neither did Galactik.
Oh you didn´t know? On April the 8th point your favorite Browser (you must be a PC user, since you need the RealPlayer!!) to the homepage of the Uplink-LANparty to see a live video feed!

Added a lot of new maps to QW_Uplink. Complete maplist:

4 BAM4 4 2FortLOL 4 2F_TFM 4 TheHo1
5 2Mach1 5 Impact1 5 Spit 5 TFexper4
6 2Brave1a 6 Rock1 6 Z7 6 Chasm103
7 2Bcobra 7 Sewer1 7 Canyon1 7 Midas2

9 2Night2 9 Beam1 9 MbasesR 9 2FortSE
0 Bases 0 Well6 0 Demoz2a 0 TechWell
After I thouroughly tested them they will also be moved to NetQuake_Uplink. I did not yet add download-links to the Files-Area. They will be added once the new maps are available on the NetQuake server. If you have complaints about the maps (I know, they ALL suck, right?) feel free to tell me in the Forum. Complaints without positive feedback (i.e. "Why not adding the map XYZ, because it.....") are useless. If you prefer to hold your breath here you will also ridicule yourself when you complain about the maps when they are played on the server :-).

Added new screenshots, changed many buttons. There were too many different fonts/styles, so I had to change that as well. Also updated the GibStats, but don´ freak out on them.
A LAN-Party is being planned, please see the discussion forum.

Added Miva and Cerber to the "Inactive" List. I hope you will come back some day. That effectively means we are seven active players, plus one that is rarely active.

You might have already noticed it, the DLc Forum is now powered by DiscusPro.
A new Clan has been founded as well - the DarkAngels. Visit them here. The founder is SolidSnake, a former CoM member. Good luck, guys!
We had had some spamming on the forum, but at the moment I see no need for drastic measures. If people keep insulting us (or anyone else) I will use all means the Board software offers me to keep the Forum clean! At the moment I think it was just a (bad) joke, and some people had fun replying to that posting so it´s not too bad. But you have been warned :-)
Thematic updated the IRCstats. Go and have a look (and some laughs) in the Extras section.

What a week.

Wednesday, 9th of February the site might be down a few hours due to server changes. Don´t expect to access the site at 15:00 CET, plus one or two hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I just return from my sickbed and what do I hear? CoM`s interims-leader Bandit cancelled our clanmatch scheduled for the 13-Feb-2k. To be honest I read it on their website. Well, ok :-)
Any other news? Humm, just my own two cents (but I better keep my mouth shut).

SkullFuck and Throck returned from hell and are now active again.
Behold, the Armygeddon Clan not only opened their own Forum, no, they are also the self-announced Headquarter of the TF community now. Go and check it out here. Be sure to register if you want. Since it´s a cutie, why not also using it.

I finally finished my latest release of the DarkPak. It has some new skins plus some funny little gadgets - if you notice them :-). I also added Skin support for QuakeWorld. No more ugly basic TF skins. Grab it in the Misc. Files section.
Of course do not forget to delete the meshes in your GLquake directory, if you are a GLquake user. This might also apply for future AmigaGLquake versions, so better pay attention now.
More news? Well, I could restart my GibStats with all the collected logfiles so far (in fact I did already, but did not yet upload it). This might close some holes. After a first look at the result the new database has 3000 frags more than the old one - although the old one contains more played maps. But don´t ask me why :-)) Tell me if you want me to restart it, or just continue with the old one. My GibStats might also only show Top20 players in the future - any opinions about that as well? Since it is no problem to create a new discussion in the forum go ahead please :-)

Unfortunately the site was completely down because of "technical problems" of my hoster. While I could FTP access it HTTP was a no-go. Should be fixed right now :-) Unfortunately my Counter was also reset.
Miva has been officially inactivated. I have been promoted to his rank instead.

A_Storm, former founding member of Clan Risen, one of the first AmigaQuake clans, left the latest incarnation of ex-CR members, the QuakeWorld clan "Risen Angels" (RA). Former AmigaQuakeMercenary Japes left RA for ActionQuake2. I think this means we can ditch the Clanmatch vs. RA :-) Obviously A_Storm has found something more important than TeamFortress.
As it seems a rematch vs. AGO is on its way, the first date that was told me is 11-Feb-2k. This might change of course. I know of no new news (whoa, tongue twister) regarding a match vs. CoM.
Liluh told me Cerber might be back soon...I hope this is true ;-)
Updated several parts of the HP, including the "DLc History" page.

Updated the GibStats with the latest logfiles I recorded. Don´t expect too much. Maybe due to my player-merging/deleting (you remember, some people absolutely have to add a carriage-return to their name for kewlness) larger and larger problems appear. Either because of that or because of reconnecting or lag some games that were FULL now appear deserted in the GibStats. I just don´t know what do do about this besides completely restarting everything from scratch and hope people will keep their names "compatible". Unfortunately dedicated server logs, actually a good idea, do not work with TeamFortress. I tried it locally with a dedicated WinQuake server, logged on and suicided several times. Everything the logfile contained were the initialisation messages of Quake. Another possibility would be to fire up a dummy client, that sits in Quake 24 h a day and just collects logfiles. Of course we would lose a player slot. Not a good option IMO. Hopefully someone compiles a good working QuakeWorld client for the Amigas, since the dedicated QuakeWorld server logs work fine with GibStats.
Again: The current GibStats contain holes the size of a small country. If you know why, please tell me (no, I don´t delete players that become too good).
We also will have a new map on Uplink soon. It is called "Millennium Bases" and can be downloaded in the maps-section or here. I haven´t found it on my favorite WalnutCreek mirrors, so I mirrored it myself. I consider it a fun map, although some will complain about its size again, just as those people did with 2FortSE. Possible problems might occur due to the fact that this map has been designed for TeamFortress 2.9 (!). No, don´t go downloading it, TF2.9 is QuakeWorld only.
