Installing TeamFortress is quite simple.
Get the main archive HERE first. Then unzip it into your Quake directory, the folder structure must look like that: quake/fortress/. (Of course you can unzip it into "blurgschwurbl" instead of "fortress" but in the following examples I will refer to "fortress" :-) )
Now you have to tell Quake where it can find the modification. To do this you need to add the commandline switch "-game", as parameter add "fortress". A very simple commandline for starting TeamFortress would be "XYZquake -game fortress". XYZquake is your preferred Quake client.
The suggested commandline contains a few more switches: "XYZquake -game fortress -zone 1024 -heapsize 16000"
If you are one of the PC users, you can add some of the Win- and GLQuake specific switches as well, like "-dinput", "-winlock" or "gl_rounddown 0" etc. I really suggest you at least add the -zone switch with a adequate value. This prevents Quake from crashing when you use large config-files. For other switches and an explanation of them please read the corresponding manual.
Unfortunately I don´t have the PPC version of Quake so I need some information about special switches or tricks.

The maps you download have to be uncompressed to quake/fortress/maps. Just copy the readme-file in the same directory for further reference. Many maps also contain special models (*.mdl) or sounds. All models have to be copied to fortress/progs/, and the sounds usually to fortress/sound. But to be absolutely sure you need to read the helpfile coming with most maps. If Quake cannot find a model you will not be able to play the map! Missing sounds are less critical, you just lose some atmosphere in the worst case.

Now you can locally play TF. Of course you will be bored beyond belief soon, because TF itself contains no monsters or bots. So you most probably want to play it online against us or one of the other players/clans. To do that, lower your console with the "~" key (On most keyboards this is the key below the ESC key). Now enter "connect IPaddress" to connect to a server. We usually play at either 137.226.116.82 (Jennifer) or game.uplink.de/game2.uplink.de.

If all went ok, you are now able to play TeamFortress. If you have problems running TF or one of your maps refuses to load feel free to either eMail or meet us in QuakeNet, channel #amigaquake. We will be more than happy to help you, as far as we are able to :-).
